Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)
Filing Information:
UCR registration is required annually for interstate motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and owner-operators crossing state lines. The UCR, per Federal Regulations code CFR 367, must be filed by the end of the year preceding the UCR filing period.
For the UCR registration, filing officially opens on October 1st every year. All required carriers must complete their registration by December 31st. If you missed your filing for the required UCR filing period, you are still obligated to file and submit, even if it is late. The fee amount for the UCR Registration depends on how many commercial vehicles (power units) you operate.”

Filing Information:
The 2026 UCR Registration, per Code of Federal Regulations CFR 367, must be finalized by the end of the year preceding the UCR Registration filing period. As such, the final payment and application must be submitted and processed by the end of the year 2025 for the 2026 UCR period. Because of the large number of motor carriers that must file this registration, the filing period spans from October through December 2025 to allow sufficient time for the processing of applications and payments. If you are new to the transportation industry you may have observed that during the past 2 years the deadline for the UCR Registration was around the April-July time frame. This was a unique instance due to the settlement of UCR filing fees by the UCR board as a result of which the filing periods have been pushed back. However, the 2026 UCR Registration filing deadline returns to the normal schedule and will commence on October 1st, 2025 with a final deadline of December 2025.
